Dear Greatwall Family,
Three months ago, I made what would become Kibanda’s very first delivery — a simple beauty product from Isla Beauty Emporium to Greatwall Gardens 1, Block N, fourth floor. It took just five minutes, but when the customer told Isla, “Na leo mmefika haraka sana!” — something changed in me. That small moment of pride was the spark that confirmed we were onto something meaningful.
I’ve lived in Greatwall for four years now, but that day taught me something new — Greatwall 1 has mountains! Don’t believe me? Chukua baiskeli uzunguke G1 kidogo! 😂 That first delivery, on a manual bicycle, humbled me completely — my legs burned, but my heart was full. That’s when I knew Kibanda wasn’t just a business idea. It was going to be a love story between hard work, community, and pure Greatwall spirit.
By the way, I’m Jeff — a young dad of many kids (God’s blessings, not expenses 😅), trying to make an honest living in a tough economy. But beyond the dad hustle, I’m also the leader of a team that believes in sweat, service, and smiles. At Kibanda, our directors aren’t hidden in offices; you’ve seen them on bicycles, dispatching orders, carrying parcels in the sun (and rain!) That’s our culture — leadership that serves.
When I founded Kibanda, I needed a team of co-founders that would understand the difficult days “Bro leo ni kunoma, hakuna kakitu” — and still show up the next day, ready to push again.
So, we started with nothing flashy — just a few second-hand bicycles, my childhood friends, former campus mates, and a crazy dream: to fix the daily hustle of deliveries, errands, and rides in estate life.
That’s how Kibanda Express LTD began: with grit, humor, and heart.
And Greatwall, you received us like family. You let us into your homes, into your shops, and into your lives. From those old bikes, we’ve now grown to newer bicycles (including e-bikes), motorbikes, and even a few cars for our growing taxi services!
🙏🏾 A Heartfelt Thank You
- To the moms of Greatwall — asanteni sana. You trusted us with your groceries, your errands, your pharmacy runs. You even corrected us when we messed up but still called us the next day. That patience has built us.
- To all estate shops and home sellers — thank you for letting us carry your business into the homes of your customers. Truly, without you, there is no Kibanda.
- To neighborhood supermarkets like Jaza and Foodplus — your cooperation, fast checkout, and trust in our riders have made serving Greatwall smooth and dignified. That support is priceless.
- To the Greatwall management team — asanteni for trusting us with the permission to move freely across the estate. We promise to always remain respectful, disciplined, and humble.
- To the gate soldiers — the big smiles, the loud ‘KIBANDASKIIII!’ shoutouts, and even those moments you help us carry heavy bags up the stairs… you are part of this journey too.
How We’ve Grown Together
What started as “vijana ya delivery na errands” has now become Greatwall’s trusted system. In just three months, we’ve handled tens of thousands of errands and deliveries. You’ve treated our riders like brothers, encouraged them, cheered them on, and even tipped them!
We’ve also begun reaching nearby estates like Sunset, Crystal Rivers, Wema, Pinecity, Graceland, Transview etc
Our current team? 90% are actually previously unemployed graduates. But more importantly, we’re young gentlemen and ladies who are hungry for success. Soon, you’ll even hear a female voice at dispatch (we know Alex’s heavy voice needs some balance — tumesikia complaints zenu! 😂).
K-Ride: How It Started
Funny enough, K-Ride didn’t begin as a business idea — it started with my own small car. My two sons are passionate footballers, enrolled in an academy in Kitengela. But let me tell you, paying Uber or Bolt every single day was brutal — about KES 1,200 for a round trip. You can imagine!
Then one random afternoon, Baba Willian (Willian is my sons’ teammate and best friend) called me and said,
“Bro, hatuezi kuekeaga mafuta utupelekee hao watoto Kitengela?” (Insert a heavy Luo accent 😂)
That single call lit a spark. Soon after, Baba Kamah from a nearby estate joined in, then Mama Mark — and just like that, K-Ride was born.
At first, it was just a “nisaidieni ya fuel” situation — pure vibes and community spirit. But slowly, what started as three parents helping each other became something real. Today, we already have two vehicles running scheduled rides from Greatwall to that same football academy in Kitengela.
(And by the way, if your child needs a football academy, ask me! Manchester United has stressed me enough — I’m now focusing on raising future GOATs 😅).
But K-Ride has grown far beyond football. We now operate multiple cars for scheduled rides across and outside Greatwall, driven by vetted, respectful, community-trusted drivers. Most of our drivers came from Uber and Bolt — and we pay them better. Our commissions are the lowest in the market.
We also train our drivers not just on safety and punctuality, but on respect, humility, and customer care — because that’s what Kibanda stands for. In fact, if a Kibanda driver doesn’t open your door, offer you a charging cable and a bottle of water, please call me personally — I’ll give you instant cash back!
And unlike other apps, here’s what makes K-Ride truly different:
• Scheduled rides: Book in advance and we’ll be there exactly on time — no waiting.
• Driver-set prices: Each driver sets fair, transparent rates depending on the vehicle type, distance, and comfort add-ons like Wi-Fi and water.
• Variety: Choose from a private car, a trusted boda, or even rent a vehicle for self-drive.
Above all, our drivers are respectful, courteous, and rooted in community trust. Because to us, it’s never just transport — it’s family helping family.
Our Why: Simplicity, Fairness & Clean Air
“30 bob delivery alafu rider anapata nini, na kampuni inapata nini?”
I know, right? The truth is, our system is built on service! Ours is honest work; literally what they used to call “mchumia juani.” We don’t earn a lot, but we go home with a smile that we have served our community! Alafu pia hizo tips zenu zinatujenga sana. Tunashukuru 🙏🏾
Bicycles are our pride — they save costs, cut noise, keep us fit, and ensure our estate stays free from unnecessary emissions.
Have you seen the latest global warming stats? Scary. And here in Athi River, with all the industries, the heat is even harsher. That’s why we’ve committed to near-zero emissions — with bicycles, e-bikes, and even hybrid cars for rides. This is our way of hustling for you, while also hustling for the planet.
We’re also in talks with e-bike companies to secure good deals for our riders. Slowly by slowly, we’ll see more electric bicycles cruising around Greatwall and neighboring estates.
Oh, and one more thing… do you want to join our bicycle team? You may not get rich here immediately, but at least you won’t need gym that day. Especially on leg days — hakunaga chicken legs huku!
Our Promise to You
We promise to always:
- Stay humble, respectful, and transparent.
- Deliver with speed, dignity, and heart.
- Build Kibanda not as an outsider, but as your community’s own platform.
Because Kibanda was never just a company. It was, and always will be, a team effort, a community hustle, a dream we are living together.
The Kibanda App is Coming Soon!
And by the way — the Kibanda App is just around the corner! Soon, you’ll be able to book K-Rides, errands, food, and deliveries all in one place — faster, easier, and with live tracking. No more calls or confusion — just tap, book, and we’ll be right at your door. Greatwall, get ready — your everyday life is about to get even smoother!
